As Whitney and Mason’s cousin Abby recently pointed out, two months is kind of a long time to go without an update, so I hope I can remember everything that has been going on. It must have been a busy couple months to prevent me from updating the site.
Well one of the things we did was have some more visitors. Heidi’s mom, dad and sister flew out and stayed for a week. They visited the monuments and had a pretty good time. We were going to replace a door in our house but once again got delayed.
During part of the time they were here, I was in Idaho. We had our staff retreat in Sandpoint. It was nice to get back to Idaho for a few days, and we had a pretty good time.
We continued the tradition we started a few years ago by putting together another gingerbread house. The kids have just as much fun sneaking pieces of candy as the do actually working on the gingerbread house.
They both like to squeeze the frosting out of the tube. In the end it turned out pretty well, considering all the candy that went missing during the construction phase.
We also had some patches of good weather. We took a day and went exploring when I had a day off of school and went down to the river.
There are quite a few trails down there and lots of sand to play with. We ended up quite a ways down the river, stopping at every patch of sand along the way.
One of the interesting things that I didn’t include a picture of is Whitney’s teeth. She lost a tooth one day when I was at work, and Heidi later went out that evening and she pulled out another tooth. So she lost two teeth in one day and was pretty excited for the tooth fairy to come that night and bring her a load of money.
I had my finals and still don’t know how they went. I won’t get my grades until sometime after classes begin. But it was nice to enjoy the time after class ended when I didn’t have to be studying all evening long and could get home at a decent hour.
The kids started getting excited for Christmas about a month in advance. We got our tree right after Thanksgiving, and it was big and bushy. Mason and Whitney helped decorate it of course, and put lots of lights up around the house and in their rooms.
When Christmas finally did get here, they mostly got what they had asked Santa for. Mason got a dinosaur, which is all he talks about these days. He also got another dinosaur and another dinosaur and…you get the point.
Whitney got some Barbie supplies and the Magic of Pegasus, along with some Polly Pocket stuff and various other toys.
We did have some snow during December. Whitney got three of four snow days, since everytime there is white stuff on the ground they call off school. But she certainly doesn’t mind.
