So I just haven’t had time to post this earlier, but thought the pictures turned out pretty good. Whitney, Heidi and Mason went to Idaho for Whitney’s Spring Break. I stayed here to study for finals. One of the things they did was go to visit Heidi’s uncle who has horses. The kids like horses and like to look at the ones here in Aquia Harbour.
So Whitney got to ride the horse all by herself, and obviously was loving every minute of it. Mason, on the other hand, wasn’t having quite as much fun so he got off right after this picture was taken. Afterwards, under circumstances that are still disputed, the horse took off with Heidi still on board and eventually she met up with the ground. She didn’t get permanently hurt but it probably reinforced Mason’s decision to get off the horse.

So I’ve been writing back and forth with Marty for a while, curious about how his motorcycle project is going. He finally got it done and emailed me a couple pictures.
Like I told him, I think it is one of the nicer looking custom bikes. I thought the whole think turned out pretty well, down to the pipes. Anyway, it sure is a step up from his old Virago…he’d better let me drive it for posting a picture of it.

So Whitney and Mason both got injured the other day. There is this park with a paved walkway about an eigth of a mile long and it has a really steep section on it. The kids like to run around it, since it is a circle. They also like to ride big wheels down the steep section.
So the other day Heidi took Mason and Whitney over there and Mason was riding this little bike thing he has, and tipped over and skinned up his knee. So they had to go home and nurse Mason back to health.
Later that evening, I was home and we went over there again, so Mason could show me how he could ride a bike.
Whitney got the little bike that Mason was on earlier and was riding it around the circle and zooming down the hill. Sure enough, she wrecked the exact same way Mason did, skinning her knees up as well.
They both were limping all over the house that evening but made miraculous recoveries.

So a few weeks ago I found out that you can burn in Stafford County after 4:00 p.m., and ever since have been looking for the perfect opportunity to set something ablaze. We have since pulled up a bunch of dead shrubbery, plus cleared out some fallen branches and dead wood from the forest, and so I thought it would make a great fire.
I also cut down a tree I hated that was planted kind of in the middle of the back yard, but the stump wouldn’t die. It kept sprouting little twigs, and even though I mowed them they kept coming back. I think you can see where this is headed.
So I piled the brush and debris on top of the stump and invited Dan and Chelsey down from work. We also had a little Farming Game to catch up on, since I came in last the previous time we played, clearly a fluke.
Now since it had been raining for days leading up to the fire, accelerant was needed, so (more…)

I got a new BBQ grill in advance of Fathers Day and my birthday. My old one was a small gas grill, which had been the star of many great experiences, such as the time I used it indoors and forgot that I had added wood chips to it to make it smoke.
Anyway, it was time to replace it so when we were at Walmart, I looked at their charcoal grills, cause that’s what I wanted this time. They had two set up right beside each other: the $30 one and the $60 one. They had a few different things, but were pretty similar. They were made by the same company. When I was opening the lid of the $30 one, it seemed really puny and wobbly. The handle jiggled, and the tray to set your food on jiggled. Plus the whole thing wobbled.
On the other hand, the grill right next to it seemed very solid. Then I figured it out. It was twice as much, so they actually tightened the screws. They were trying to make the $30 one seem cheap so you’d buy the expensive one. Obiviously, it didn’t work on me.
The best part is that it came with the tools you need to put it together. I’m sure the $60 one wouldn’t have had a tempered steel screwdriver either, but after putting in the few screws and basically hand tightening them, the screwdriver was basically worthless. Take a look at the picture for a close up.
Bottom line is that the grill worked perfectly, we cooked some chicken and it tasted good.
