July 2006

I’m fond of Dairy Queen Blizzards.  My favorite is the M&M Blizzard made with chocolate ice cream.  That is pretty much all I get.  So for my birthday, I decided to go get one.  Since the one here in Stafford shut down unexpectedly, I had to find another one.

I did, and went in and asked for “The biggest Blizzard possible.”  Then the whole experience took on the characteristics of buying illegal fireworks.  The guy kind of looked at me, raised his eyebrows a little and looked around and grabbed a 32 ounce cup.  “I guess I could put one in here”, he said.  It wasn’t one the menu–cause how many people want 32 ounces of ice cream.

I asked him how much it would be, and he kind of thought about it and said, “$5.99″ and almost put a question mark behind it–I’m not sure if he just couldn’t remember the price or if he was just making this all up and pulling a price out of thin air.

It took him several trips to the mixer and M&M dish before he was satisfied, but it was an awesome Blizzard.  I ate it all in about an hour, for a rate of about 40 calories per minute.

So this is just another random post about my trip to Idaho and back.  I had left my car parked in my parking spot in the lot and just took the Metro to the airport.  I was planning on taking the Metro back at about 6:30 or 7 in the morning, changing into my clean clothes (which I left in the car) and going in to work after a refreshing flight home at 1 in the morning.

Well first of all, the guy beside me decided that since there was a light above his seat that must mean he should read his book no matter how late it got.  The next time someone beside me is reading a book at 2:30 in the morning I’m going to tell them how it ends and ruin it for them.

Plus my spider bite was killing me, but I finally managed to get about 15 minutes of sleep before landing.

I really hadn’t heard too much about the massive rain storm we had had when I was gone, but evidently Washington DC got at least 10 inches of rain.  This didn’t concern me because I had rolled up the windows in my car.

But what I hadn’t counted on was the fact that my trunk (more…)
