So this is just another random post about my trip to Idaho and back. I had left my car parked in my parking spot in the lot and just took the Metro to the airport. I was planning on taking the Metro back at about 6:30 or 7 in the morning, changing into my clean clothes (which I left in the car) and going in to work after a refreshing flight home at 1 in the morning.
Well first of all, the guy beside me decided that since there was a light above his seat that must mean he should read his book no matter how late it got. The next time someone beside me is reading a book at 2:30 in the morning I’m going to tell them how it ends and ruin it for them.
Plus my spider bite was killing me, but I finally managed to get about 15 minutes of sleep before landing.
I really hadn’t heard too much about the massive rain storm we had had when I was gone, but evidently Washington DC got at least 10 inches of rain. This didn’t concern me because I had rolled up the windows in my car.
But what I hadn’t counted on was the fact that my trunk sometimes doesn’t seal quite perfectly. In a one inch rainstorm this isn’t a problem. So when I got to my car and grabbed my shoes, I noticed they were submerged in water. They were on the floor in behind the drivers seat. There was several inches of standing water on the floor. There would have been more, but my spare clothes soaked a lot of it up. A LOT. Since I had no choice, I grabbed my we clothes and changed into them and wore them the rest of the day.
After work, I looked in my trunk and there was about six inches of water in it. Luckily, the trunk has a drain plug, which I removed and let the water out.
But that didn’t change the fact that my amplifier was sitting in three inches of water and smoking. I had to stop by the side of the road and pull out the fuse.
Finally, I made it home. So the next day I drove Heidi’s car, and the day after that was Spider Bite day, when I had to go to the doctor. On my way home from that, the serpentine belt fell off and I had to make an emergency landing. Luckily I have AAA and they came and towed me. I was almost reduced to firing up the old Festival Kneivel, which has never let me down except for when the axel fell out.
