One of the things we did this past summer when we were all in Idaho was went to the Salt Lake City Zoo. We went with Dan and Amy and their kids. We had a good time, and had a great spot for watching the bird show. Some of the birds flew right over our heads, so that was neat. So here are all the pictures of when we went to the zoo. (more…)

Mason was at the store the other day and found a really scary mask. He and Whitney put it on to scare me and Heidi with. They would put it on, then hide under their covers, then scare us when we came into the room.
Of course, both of them would probably have nightmares if they saw themselves with the mask on, but they sure did think it was funny to scare us. Here’s a video of Mason doing the scaring.

A couple of weeks ago I was reading on MSNBC.com because a headline had caught me eye. It was about a mysterious limp that suddenly develops in kids and I thought to myself, “That’s totally a Mason affliction…I should bookmark this page.”
Then on Friday Mason woke up unable to walk. He was in too much pain to walk or even sit, so Heidi took him to the doctor. They did all the tests on him for bacteria and fluid on the hip joint and things like that and figured out, through the process of elimination, that Mason had this toxic synovitis.
There really isn’t much that can be done about it, and it clears up on its own after a few days, we just have to keep him doped up on ibuprofen to keep the inflammation down. The link to the full story is here.
