A few weeks ago we took a Saturday and headed up North to the National Zoo in Washington, DC. It was a great day and perfect weather. We took the Metro and did quite a bit of walking, but the kids never did complain until we were almost all the way back to the Metro after walking through the zoo.

It is a big zoo with a lot of animals. The only bad part was that we didn’t get to see everything–the kids really wanted to see the Komodo dragons but they weren’t around and the place was closing so we had to leave. But most of the other cool stuff was out.

One of the favorite things was the stingrays. Both kids were sad about Steve Irwin getting killed, since they love those types of shows. They learned that you have to be very careful around wild animals. So when they saw the stingrays they were especially attentive. The tank was really pretty neat, cause you could see them right up close.
