Last April, Jerry Painter, Mike Shaw, Paul Fairbourn, and I went on a 3-day ski tour into Alaska Basin.  We had heavy, wet snow with miserable trailbreaking on the first day but were rewarded with an absolutely spectacular second day.  The third day was mostly about survival as we skied back down the icy slopes (with awkward packs) we had spent so much time climbing just 2 days earlier.  For comparison, I’ve added photos of the same area taken at the beginning of October and mentioned in a previous post.
