Mason had his second baseball game today. He again did really well. He chased after every ball that was hit, and got to throw it to first a couple times. Once again he got to hit twice and he hit it well both times. You can see the ball going up in one of the pictures. The way the kids bad is they all bat twice. Mason is the lead off hitter the first inning; then they reverse the order the second inning, so Mason is the last batter. The rules seem to be that the kids can only get singles, and they can only get thrown out at first. So even if the ball is hit to third, and it is a force out, the kid can’t just tag the bag. He must throw it to first.

So when the last batter is up, they have to throw the ball to first. But since it is the last batter, instead of just ending the inning with someone on first, if he doesn’t get thrown out at first he can keep running the bases and they can keep trying to throw him out. So the point is, the only way you can get a home run is to be the last batter and not get thrown out at first. Mason was able to get a home run in this fashion today and it was pretty fun for him.
