My brother Steve just got PRK surgery to correct his nearsightedness. I also made an investment in my eyesight. I have terrible eyes, and usually wear contacts. But I had to one-up Steve, and I think you will agree I succeeded. People have told me I remind them of their grandpa, and also have wondered why I would pay for these glasses.
For those interested in these glasses, made famous not only by three Presidents of the Mormon Church, but also by Michael Douglas in the movie Falling Down.
For those of you who are interested in being able to purchase old fashioned, black rimmed glasses, the website where I ordered these is Shuron.com. They were $95–and worth every penny.

Let me give you a sense of our family’s reaction:
Ha! Ha! Ha! ………Ha! Ha!
Are those his real glasses?
Is he voting for Pedro next election?
He got a haircut. (Hannah)
P.S. Nice sense of style! (says Abby)

By far the most common comment I’ve received is “Are those for real?”

I thought for sure someone would have worn a pair of these in Apollo 13, but I didn’t see any pictures of these in any scenes.
