June 2009

So for Fathers Day I got one of these: from my Amazon Wish List. It is awesome. I also realized that homemade ice cream is really just flavored butter that is frozen. Seriously, half a cup of the batch I made has 450 calories. Its just cream…frozen…into ice. I wonder where they got the name. We also had a very good meal for Fathers Day and I had a good day.

Anyway, I’ll use it a lot. Mason likes sherbet so I will have to try that as well. Here are some kind of Fathers Day pictures…

When Herb and Linda were here we went to Gettysburg. We had a pretty good time. The weather was pretty nice and it wasn’t too hot. We went up the night before, which was probably the most exciting part for the kids since it meant they got to stay the night in a hotel. The ride up wasn’t too bad for a holiday weekend but it did take a while. We didn’t have a DVD player so I had to describe movies from memory for the kids to keep them entertained. Whitney didn’t like that very much cause I don’t know the Harry Potter movies well enough and was confusing them with Lord of the Rings, which made Whitney mad.

We went all around Gettysburg and saw a lot of neat things. We ate at Kentucky Fried Chicken, which sometimes I like and sometimes I don’t. The kids at least liked it this time. There are quite a few pictures after the break. (more…)

The kids had their first swim meet of the season. They have been practicing as much as they can with all the rain we’ve been having and did pretty good. They swam some relays, freestyle, butterfly and Mason swam the backstroke and took third.

This first swim meet was freezing cold and windy so it didn’t make things any easier. It was on the verge of storming all night long and was cloudy, making the kids glad when it was time to go home. I was cold and wasn’t even in the water.

Today was Award Assembly Day at Mason’s school. They give out a few special awards, and Mason got the one given by the library. That means he is always a good kid in the library, acts politely, reads his books and is respectful. So he did a good job this year in school once again but is ready to be done.

This season’s baseball and softball games have mostly been rained out, but every once in a while there is a game. Mason is pretty good at baseball, and even though this year is his first doing machine pitch, he still gets a hit just about every time at bat. This is one of his better hits. It went clear out into the outfield. I’m sure he was glad to hear the other teams coach keep saying “He’s a good hitter, look out!”
