Marty and I went to the Van Halen concert last night. It was really good. We we both surprised by how good David Lee Roth sounded after such a long layoff.

The worst part of the concert was the opening act. It was the worst opening act in the history of the world. It was reggae music for one thing. It may have been a decent band if they were playing in a park somewhere for free, but worthy of opening (more…)

When my family was gone to Idaho, I made a movie. It is a great adventure in the tradition of Survivorman and Man vs. Wild.

The only bad part is that I couldn’t figure out how to fit Reagan, or his voice, into the movie. Plus, it is 20 minutes long. I probably should have sold advertising in it and made it a full 30 minute show.

While it was snowing in Idaho, we were camping out here. At about 7 o’clock last Friday night me and Heidi decided to go camping the next day. So I got on the Internet and tried to find a close place to camp. Both kids had soccer games on Saturday, so we wouldn’t be able to drive hours and hours for the trip.

After a few minutes, I found a close place: Westmoreland State Park, which is only about 65 miles away. So after the soccer games ended, we headed out.

We had a pretty nice little campsite. It was at the top of a hillside, and there was a really big tree that had gotten blown over down at the bottom of the hill. The vegetation was pretty thick and the kids played tigers, dinosaurs and other animals down there. I sneaked (more…)

masonhikingWe went for another hike in the backyard yesterday. Mason just grabbed a bag, packed some stuff in in and said, “Let’s go for a hike.” So we all went along with him. It was a really nice day, so it wasn’t hot or humid at all.

One of the things we found was an area in the forest where there were a lot of (more…)

IMG_2670.JPGI’ve been thinking about getting a motorcycle when I was done with law school because I was thinking it would be a lot quicker to get to work and back without having to pick up slugs. Some days it could save me a half hour each way. Even on good days, it would save 15 minutes each way. Heidi told me I might as well get one now so I could get home earlier during the summer, so I started looking.

I wanted something that handled well, was dependable and had enough power to get me back and forth on I-95, so I narrowed it down to a few choices. I found a bike nearby that only had 1000 miles on it and was a 2006, so I went and looked at it and it was in good shape, so I bought it. Its a Suzuki Katana 600. (Yes, as Whitney noticed today I have a black Suzuki motorcycle and a black Suzuki car). Following in my tradition, it was a repossessed bike. The only thing it is missing is a tiger striped seat, but until then, this picture has to suffice. We all went for rides on it today.

masonsnakeThis is mainly a post about Whitney’s reward. A couple of weeks ago she had an awards assembly at school and did really well. We told her that she could pick a movie to go to as a reward. She wanted to see a Bridge to Terabithia, but I knew that both Mason (who is sad when lions kill baby antelopes on Animal Planet) and Whitney would be disturbed by the ending, so I told them what happens in the end and Whitney agreed it would be too sad to see.

So she decided to go hiking. Her and I went hiking a while back down by Fredericksburg, and she really loved it, and wanted to go back and show Heidi and Mason how neat it was. She had to sell girl scout cookies first thing in the morning though, so me and Mason killed some time at the pet store. So we went finally got down to the river for the hike, and although it was kind of windy today, (more…)
