Photo 11.jpgMy brother Steve just got PRK surgery to correct his nearsightedness. I also made an investment in my eyesight. I have terrible eyes, and usually wear contacts. But I had to one-up Steve, and I think you will agree I succeeded. People have told me I remind them of their grandpa, and also have wondered why I would pay for these glasses.

For those interested in these glasses, made famous not only by three Presidents of the Mormon Church, but also by Michael Douglas in the movie Falling Down.

For those of you who are interested in being able to purchase old fashioned, black rimmed glasses, the website where I ordered these is Shuron.com. They were $95–and worth every penny.

I thought people might think this story was pretty funny.

I was at work when the gunman was getting arrested and his truck searched and seized. It was causing a fair amount of chatter inside the buildings–and was causing a bit of traffic over our alert system.

So I went down to the cafeteria to get something to eat, and the lady before me in line was talking to the cashier about it. So I get there and she rings up my food, and instead of ringing up my bread, which would have been like 50 cents, she just handed it to me and said, “I just give you this today…you never know when you gonna die.” It was very comforting.

One of the things that Senators can do is request special tours of the Capitol Dome. There is some neat stories about the dome, how and why it was built and how all the painting inside was done.

Last Friday, Senator Craig took a few of us on one of these tours. It was pretty cool. we got to walk about outside on the dome, and it was a clear day so we could see forever. We could see where the old used to be and see the (more…)

We had work and school off for Martin Luther King day and decided to take a trip. We went to Theodore Roosevelt Park, which is on an island in DC.

It was a pretty good trip. Even though it was cold, the kids had a lot of fun running around and exploring the island. Whitney eventually ended up near death, as you can see by the pictures, and we almost had to leave her behind. She was able to (more…)

Mason and Whitney love their pet rabbit. It is almost entirely litter box trained, and spends a lot of its time running free around the kitchen. We don’t quite trust it to run around the entire house, though, so I put up a barrier to prevent her from escaping into the living room and its carpet.

At first, the blanket in the video was a lot lower. Finally, I had to replace it with a big piece of cardboard, then finally a baby-gate. Now the rabbit tries to gnaw through it. She really wants into the living room.

Heidi's New CarWe have had a Buick Park Avenue for a couple years now. It was Heidi’s car. It is approaching 200,000 miles though, and is not as reliable as it once was. A couple weeks ago, it was doing some weird things and so the mechanic told us it needed a water pump (among other things). $700 later, it was doing the exact same thing. This time, the diagnoses was either (more…)
